I always miss my old 26″ 2008 Giant Reign and once a week I ride with my old mate Eugene who refuses to get a new bike and insists on riding his 26″ bikes. (I’ve know him since we were 3 and he got me into mountain biking in 1990). I figure there was an opportunity to build up a 26″ bike to level out the playing field a little when riding with him (IE: ride slower!).
I did a lot of research over a few months, watched a lot of YouTube vids, admittedly wasted some people’s time on FB Marketplace (BAD!), posted on reddit as well as forums. All roads led to the Yeti SB66, the original super bike as arguably one of the best and last 26 Inch bikes ever sold.
I had just about given up on finding a Yeti SB66 as they never pop up on FB Marketplace or eBay, but one day an old JDMST Forum member Alex reached out to me with a frame for sale and I jumped on it!
Alex has had this clean 2014 frame sitting in a box for the past 10+ years. I’ve brought it into 2026 with a full wireless Shimano XT Di2 groupset, FOX Transfer Neo wireless electronic dropper seatpost and a custom 26” carbon wheelset by ZEN Carbon Bike.
