Sean’s wife is expecting, and he recently sold the FD in preparation for fatherhood. To our surprise a tow truck dropped off this Lancer GSR at the garage, we were all like “what the?!”. Turns out Sean bought it! He obviously couldn’t help himself, and has picked up this GSR to play with.

The car was sold as running but the seller mentioned that it wasn’t running properly, suggesting it might have been misfiring. It took Sean and Rob no time at all to start stripping the car and getting to the bottom of it’s issues.

We’re pretty excited about this little car and we’re already hunting down some new bits for it. Be sure to check back for updates!

She started up straight off the trailer, albeit with it’s alarm on, lumpy idle and running rich.

The front bar was inside the car.

Some sort of custom turbo set-up?

Got to love that SAAS wheel. Not!

Oh hai there. EVO III side skirts.

Up on stands in no time.

Ripped the alarm out, then the car wouldn’t start…

Took the boys a while to get the wiring sorted out (note Autronic ECU).

Got there in the end! Turns out one of the ignition coil packs had died, we replaced it and she’s idling real nice  now!
