My coilovers finally came in (will never ship by sea ever again!!!) so I spent the day getting them installed at JDMyard.

I was first greeted by this. My “new” engine!!! My engine is going strong but it’s got over 200,000kms on it. This one’s only got 100,000kms and it’s just done it’s full 100km service and has new seals, lifters, spark plugs, oil filter and hoses. I couldn’t resist buying it. Zi had an Astina engine cover lying around too. Score!!! Exposed cam gears are hot, aight?!

Next thing I went for was my set of SSR Meshies which I bought from the guys at Hoskins Auto. They’re 14×7 +22 and came with a brand new set of Firenza tyres.

Lovely.

I got John to change the tyres over as I had plenty of meat left on my Potenzas. Same weak size (185). Would love 205’s all round.

FINALLY! Tein Flex’s came in yesterday. I wish I bought the Monoflex… just didn’t have enough cash (or patience) at the time.

Kiet made quick work of installing the Teins.

Easy damper adjustment front and back. 28 clicks. I set them at 14 but found them too soft on my drive home (still lots of dipping when braking hard). I’ve since bumped them up to 20 all round and the car is no longer dipping under brakes, bit stiff though on bumpy roads, might wind it back a couple of clicks.

We adjusted the rears as low as they would go without losing suspension travel. I measured about 12.5inches from centre of hub to guard. I’ve lowered the front a little bit more as MX-5’s like a bit of rake.

Did an oil change (check dat black oil!!!), new oil filter and also bled the brakes as they were feeling a bit mushy.

Had to buy something in the shop. Bought these BullLock lug nuts. Steel, black, locking, made in Japan… I’m happy!

They look great!

AOK with the ride height. Would like it an inch lower, but will resist and keep it as is for now. Need an alignment, but waiting on sway bars, new bushings and arms too.
