It was my first time to Japan and I was lucky enough to score tickets to this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon. I had been counting down the days for months now and I couldn’t wait to set foot on the motherland. My boyfriend and I arrived on Wednesday, did some exploring then Thursday came set up day where we set up the Haltech stand at the GCG Turbo booth which we shared with Under Suzuki and Mad Mike.

I walked around on the setup day unsure if anyone was allowed to take photos so here are a few snaps I managed to take from inside the show.

I have to admit I got tears in my eyes when I saw the RWB cars for the first time in real life. I felt super silly but I had been waiting for this day forever!

Mad Mikes crazy ‘Humbul’ FD3S RX-7 by TCP Magic which was on display at our booth. Was lucky enough to have Kawato San from TCP invite us to his workshop in Kobe after the show!

Was nice to see the Kyushu Danji R34 GTR again after seeing it take out 3rd place at Sydney’s World Time Attack Challenge.

After taking a few photos and setting up our booth we headed over to the Hard Rock Café carpark in Roppongi for the Rauh-Welt Begriff (RWB) Party. There were a fine selection of widebody Porsche builds on display which I was completely overwhelmed by.

We then headed for the Fresh Tokyo underground car meet held by SuperStreet, Hardcore Japan and All That Low. The quality and turnout of street cars was mind blowing and something I will never forget.

Was a bit odd seeing this Commodore when we first arrived! No chevs badges on this ute!

Nice pair of clean NSX’s.

We hung around for a few hours then headed back to the hotel to try get some rest before Friday’s Media Day which was incredibly busy. The doors opened up to the public around lunch time and the swarm of people was crazy! I needed to escape…

Stay tuned for Part 2 coming soon!
