Last month, I surprisingly found myself on a Sunday afternoon with no plans, no work to do, and a working car. Luckily this meant I was able to grab my camera and head over to Fairfield to cover the Downshift December meet.

Free time becomes a rare commodity as the year draws to a close, so it was no shock that the turnout was significantly less than usual. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing (for me anyway!) as the event had a very relaxed atmosphere, and quality builds received the attention they deserved.

The car that caused the biggest stir was probably this impressive Mitsubishi. Some subtle exterior carbon bits, a neatly presented Airrex setup, and an interior that made me speculate what was under the bonnet – this car was very nicely executed. (Click on each image to see it full size.)

The next crowd pleaser was actually the smallest on show! Easily one of the most photographed machines at Downshift, people were losing their minds over this thing!

This isn’t the first and hopefully not the last time I will photograph this Type R Civic. Thumbs up to BYP.
