Any mention of Fitted Festival is almost guaranteed to polarise anyone in the Sydney car community. The event was planned for February, but was delayed twice due to bad weather forecasts, purely due to the affect it would have on bump in setup of AV equipment and building of their large stage used to unveil cars.
These delays have left a bad taste in the mouths of numerous attendees and trade stands who have only been offered credit for their tickets rather than refund; partial or whole. A substantial number had planned interstate trips, and ended up paying for travel and accomodation. Mind you the delays haven’t been the best for the organisers of Fitted either, who had invited a number of international judges from Super Street and Rywire, and had to swallow the costs of airfares and accommodation as well.
After spending most of the day at the Dragway for the Nitto Performance Engineering GT-R Festival amongst a sea of GT-Rs, it was good to see the variety of cars that had made their way out to Fitted Festival. Everything from exotic, to muscle, to JDM and Euro, and yes a few interstaters, but no where near as many that had planned to (and actually trekked all the way here).
Trade & display stands
Traders were out with some discounts on their products & services, as well as car dealerships and clubs, with some impressive cars to attract the punters
The guys from Snowfoam had Senna’s NSX out along with a couple of other cars
Ace Windscreens with this lovely R8, in good company with Audi Centre Sydney’s R8 as well.
The boys from Concept Garage had Ean’s C63 in it’s project car form, hinting at a big build, and something that’s been on the books for a fair while. It was in good company with a few S15’s they’ve done, including Santosh’s 326 kit, which was unveiled last year.
John’s 1200 Hakotora was on the V-Sport stand, and also won best unfinished project; claiming $2k to go towards a paintjob from Hueform.
Unveiling at Fitted Festival
One of the great features of Fitted Festival (Friday) has been the unveiling of cars and bikes, with some memorable cars being unveiled at previous events, like Garage88’s ZN6 86, and 2Sus’s FD RX7 dressed in a RocketBunny kit. This year we saw 4 cars and 2 bikes unveiled. I’m sure it was a welcome relief for the owners, who would have kept them a secret for 4 months with all the delays.
Unfortunately the night ended prematurely when the drizzle turned to a nasty downpour, taking out 75% of the crowd in a long lineup to get out the single road leading out. 
Hopefully the future of Fitted Festival remains bright and sunny; despite problems with the weather this year. Any festival that brings together like minded car enthusiasts is a good thing in our eyes, especially one that encourages the building of project cars.
