Shit happens. Full stop. We thought we’d get Brad Heasman to write this feature up in his own words:

Finish work at 11pm on Friday night. Tow car home. Wake up at 5am. Tow car to track. Drink a coffee. Get car off trailer, scrutineer, sign on, find race numbers because I left them at work. Fuel. Drivers briefing. Put zen sticker on new bonnet. put race shoes on. Get in car. Strap in. drive to dummy grid. Put helmet and gloves on. Drive into pit exit. Start warm up lap. Exiting turn 9, 3rd gear full throttle. Get to 6000rpm. Bang, bang, bang. Shit.
