Last weekend the Honda Showoff 2013 end of year show went down at JDMyard in Smithfield NSW. Sydney’s Honda community showed up to display their cars, grab a bite to eat and also make the most of JDMyard’s massive end of year sale.

We were put in charge of judging the show and had to do 5 laps of the entire show before we got it right.

Best Of Show went to Benji Diquattro’s EG Civic. It also took out Best Paint. The car just popped, both outside…


… and inside.


Best Engine Swap went to Michael’s amazing ‘KE04ME’ F20C powered KE30 Toyota Corolla. He also took out Best Engine Bay as there was no engine bay cleaner AND he also took out Best Interior as no-one had put as much work into their interiors as Michael had; we’re talking S2000 cluster, centre console, pedals and seats!


Best Oldskool Pre92 went to David Sidhom’s gorgeous little thing.


Because Race Car went to Alexander Parisi’s AMP Racing Daihatsu time attack car. 300kw from a B18C and 920kg wet weight makes this possibly one of the fastest Charades on the planet!


Best Hardparker went to this MR2 (which took out best engine swap last year).


Best Stance went Timothy Mu’s EF Civic. Amazing wheels, car is a great colour too.


Best Effort went to Matthew Nichols’ super clean, simple, less is more EK which we’ve had an eye on for a while now. It just reminds us of the good old JDM Style Tuning ways and days.

JDMyard cars get more impressive every year. Their time attack DC5R + Yonas’ back to drag spec EG Civic.


Yonas’ EG, soon to be turbo charged (in a big way!).


Nick Elson’s ATMO was a contender for best engine bay.


Fung’s amazing supercharged S2K which took out best of show last year was on show.

    Maybe next year the judging should be a little more diverse. There were a lot of quality builds and im sure a lot of the guys put in the hard work and time to get their cars to the high level that was in show. Yet 1 car gets 3 awards??
    There was a lot of talk about that afterwards andd maybe the judge should have taken in to consideration the few other hundred honda’s there.
    Yes the winners of said trophies did deserve to win with flawless examples in each category, but maybe share the love with some more well deserving entries.

      We discussed this too. I agree with more judges in future (we didn’t exactly judge alone as we did involve the JDMyard crew too). It was brought up, but it’s damn hard to give an award to a car which is obviously inferior to another. IE: No other car had put in as much work into their interiors or engine bay as Michael had. It just wouldnt have been right to give out the award to someone else just because Michael had already won an award (and we tried hard to avoid giving out awards to cars that won last year which in itself isn’t quit right).

    I counted at least 3 DC2 Integras that had K20 or K24 swapped engines in a fully tucked engine bay and plenty of attention to detail. Holes bogged, sanded and sprayed or even funcky little designs in the paint work.
    I did watch several time Justin, you would walked past some of the cleanest examples of honda’s in Sydney without a second glance.
    Yes, the winners cars are pefection but sometimes its people that are a little unknown within the scene, or even a little shy with people that I saw produce some of the most outstanding builds on Saturday.

    All this aside, another great day @ JDMyard eoym

    My car won the best old school, that is a 1974 mugen ms-1 civic which wears mugen right from the motor to the brakes.
