I couldn’t it take it anymore, the anxiety of waking up every morning without a car and the regret of knowing that I continue to spend more and more money on things that I just don’t need. Watching my bank account empty out slowly, bit by bit every day, and searching for cars on carsales slowly becoming an exhausting burden; I had to buy a car!

It was just another day. I jumped online and started to work through the list of cars that interest me, slowly crossing off one by one. There were no BMW E46 M3’s in manual transmission at the right price, the Lotus Elise’s available right now are all finished in terrible colours and Nissan R32/34’s listed were not even close to the quality that I’d want. I just wanted something that would give me a thrill, have the build quality to match and also something not many people modify so that I could modify it to my own specifications.

I had a sudden Flashback to 2005 when I had a first time ride in a Porsche Boxster S, could this be it? A quick carsales search returned the exact cars I’d want. There were only 3 in NSW which grabbed my attention, with one definitely standing out more than the rest. A quick phone call and all boxes were ticked, an appointment was made for later that night and immediately I was off to the bank to withdraw some cash!

A 2 hour drive out of Sydney was ahead of us and hopefully what could be my next car. We arrive at our destination, a small suburb in a beautiful valley near Newcastle. The roads were like a twisty national park (perfect for test driving!). A quick inspection of the inside, outside, under and everything between ticked every box, time for the drive.

Will this car, after years of driving higher powered performance vehicles, still manage to give me the thrill I’m after? Needless to say, 20 minutes later the registration papers were signed and I was the new owner of a 2004 Porsche Boxster S.

We hit the Highway and headed back to Sydney, cruising with our ZEN Maloo Ute made for some interesting blasts and surprising outcomes… with both cars remaining head to head at the top of 5th! Hairdresser’s car? I think not!

We got home by midnight and I found myself getting straight into bed. My mind slowly unwinding from the day’s activities and still not really realising what had just happened. It felt like I had just borrowed a friends car for a drive and now it was time to sleep.

“Sergio! Move your Porsche!” were the words I woke up to this morning. Was I still dreaming or was my car search really over? Outside waiting to be moved was my fine piece of German Engineering. I look over to my side table and there sits a car key, a Porsche car key. With a smile ear to ear I roll out of bed and reply, “Yep, sorry! One sec”. This morning, although potentially the same as every other morning this year, was somehow different… this morning I woke up a Porsche owner.
