Toyo Tires has announced the Australia release of a new road-legal race tyre, Proxes R888R.
The Proxes R888R is the evolution of the Proxes R888 (which I love SO much!), delivering faster lap times and improved dry handling with no compromise on wet performance. I’ve had R888’s on so many previous rides (currently a fresh set on the GT-R which got me a PB at Wakies of 1.08). I’m personally looking forward to testing out the new R888R!
Toyo says the new tyre retains the fast warm-up characteristics of the Proxes R888 (I’ve found R888’s to warm up faster than any other semi I’ve ever run) while the new design sharpens steering precision and feedback through the car, increasing control and mid-corner speed.
The guys launched the R888R with Ken Block in a trailer for the new production ‘Climbkhana’. In the video Block attacks Pikes Peak International Hill Climb track in the 1,400 horsepower all-wheel-drive Hoonicorn V2 (holy shit the tyres look tough on the car!).
