This is it ladies and gentlemen! This unassuming granny-spec 1995 Nissan Pulsar SSS will become the base on which Zen Garage will help develop an entry into the 2015 Pulsar Challenge. With controlled suspension and tyres, the Pulsar Challenge encourages budget grassroots racing with parity.

We will be following and assisting the build from ground zero! Sponsored by Jonnesway Professional Tools and Xforce Exhausts, we have around two weeks to turn this stocker into a race-ready entry. We haven’t wasted any time, spending our first day of the build stripping the interior and preparing the engine for a light refresh.

Alain and Berty were quickly stripping the interior, removing seats, carpets and plastics in about an hour and a half! This little beast will be caged for safety and rigidity very soon.

Sean was getting busy in the engine bay, dropping all the old lubricants in favour of new Motul oils and liquids. The ignition system (coils, leads, etc.) were also replaced, making sure the 20-year-old SR20 gets some decent spark. To up the stopping power, Sean also replaced the brake master cylinder (and brake calipers) with a larger N15 Pulsar items.

Rob was underneath the car for the first day, replacing the brake discs with new DBA items. We’ve opted for DBA T3 Club Spec slotted rotors up the front with T2 rotors at the rear. Padding duties have been undertaken by a set of Winmax race pads. Rob was an absolute gun, almost single-handedly replacing all the suspension too! We’ve ditched the standard sussy with new Yellowspeed coilovers.

Thanks goes to Jonnesway for supplying all the quality tools involved in this build. So good having a full professional toolbox to raid! We will be posting regular updates, and with the timeline so short, we can assure you every post will be packed of new stuff!
